Spare Time Means More Money

So you have any spare time? If so, what do you do in your spare time? If not, are you intent on creating spare time in order to fill it? From the creation stories to self-help books, spare time - time when you are resting and not working is one important key to happiness.

It makes sense that after taking days to create the world, rest was needed. We should take that as an example of what to do. There are plenty of examples throughout religion and literature. From meditation to working out, re-souling and rejuvenation is a key theme of self-help. So, since we obviously need spare time, we also obviously need something to do in it and retailers and service providers who can fulfill that need make quite a bit of money doing it.

The term rest is not quite appropriately used in relation to spare time. People actually use that time. Some people use it for hobbies. Scrapbooking, for example, is an incredibly popular spare time hobby that has crossed over into mainstream. Businesses that sell scrapbook pages have a large market nowadays to sell to.

Other people might decide to take up a sport or work out in their spare time. It may seem like work, but exercising has proven to be very good at reducing stress. This puts money in the cash register of those who sell something like a treadmill or even a nice black sport watch.

Many people may start out sitting around during their spare time but then they tend to eat and, consequently, get heavy. That may lead them to the gym but, it also often leads them to the weight loss books. Dieting and weight loss is yet another industry that reaps rewards from spare time.

What happens without rest and rejuvenation? Stress an anxiety increase, people get sick and tired and they begin to look for ways to feel better. People can’t function without a break in their day to day toil. The first fringe benefit in any job negotiation is vacation time.

So, people will always need spare time and always need to fill it. And, for the clever businessman who realized that when someone decides to not do anything, they actually just want to do something different, there can be a lot of money in the spare time market. So, if you want are looking for a business idea, take a vacation, go to a gym, visit a Temple or yoga studio and find out what people do when they don’t want to do anymore.
