G Scale Model Railroad Designs (For Small Businesses)
I get what you mean, my wallet’s been feeling a little on the empty side these days too. It’s rough out there. REALLY tough! I was thinking the other day about some plans to draw more pedestrians into my store and what I came up with I think could work for you too. I was remembering how when I was a child and my mom was single with me in my siblings. This was in Manhattan. The cold would drive us into a department store during the Christmas. It was one of the largest, multistory department stores but it really doesn’t matter which. There, right in the store would be this amazing toy train layout. You had to wait because there were so many kids but eventually get your turn to press the button that propelled one of the many trains to move around the track. What a great memory we had there! Bigger than the apartment we packed in! As a kid you were just captivated by the world of imagination while you were in front of that track.
The point is: the the layout brought customers into the store and they inevitably ended up buying something even if it was just to get their kids to leave that hypnotizing display. So here’s the thought I had:
Use display g scale railroad locomotives to entice customers in:
This is nothing new. For as long as I can remember, savvy businesses have used interesting displays to lure people in. But you don’t have to be a toy retailer or hardware store to capitalize on model train displays. Any store with a outward facing window that looks onto a widely used sidewalk like in a mall could easily draw parents and their kids in. You don’t really need to be a business that is in any way train related. A bookstore, for example, might just display a few model training books and maybe some novels about the building of historical railroads next to a their train display and maybe even a few train related trinkets on the side. Kids would drag their parents into the establishment and many parents would have great trouble leaving without buying their kids a little toy at least. Some parents would even welcome the time that their kids are enthralled by the trains to browse for themselves. The upfront cost of setting up the railroad and the lost space would pay for itself in no time. Surely, wherever parents and children are forced to wait would be helped from such an addition. Grateful parents would make for return business.
Consider a model train design for your Bed and Breakfast and Restaurant:
This would be ideal for that Bread an Breakfast you’ve always imagined. Well what better way to help create a cool personalized experience than to add a g scale model railroad layout to your B & B? Imagine having a train along the inside of the bar taking customers their drinks and sandwiches. Customers would really be fascinated watching the trains winding around them. The quirkiness would be sure to lure families and you could make a little bit of surplus revenue by selling toys. If you already market to families to your business this could really make the difference between them choosing your business over your closest competitor. Think of the American history tie-ins in your local area.
Yeah, times are hard. Now’s the time to act aggressively and imaginatively to improve your business not sit back and be tossed by the waves of change. A distinctive business theme is sure to help you succeed in these rough financial conditions. This is only some of the ways you could use model trains. Bring to mind a bar where your drinks are carried to the end of the counter by a Budweiser decorated trolley or…
