Achieving A Dream And Building A Model Trains Layout To Be Proud Of
I have a memory of a time when as a small boy I went with my father to a model railroad display where there was the most amazing model trains layout I had ever seen.
I stood for ages just looking in awe at the scene before me where there were lots of different model trains running along the tracks and appearing from tunnels and disappearing into the mountain landscape again.
Some of the trains were very long made up of dozens of coal trucks or freight cars some trains were much shorter with a couple of carriages of people traveling between towns
and they stopped at the stations and then moved on again to the next one.
There were mountain for the trains to run through and around with valleys and bridges over rivers with water tumbling over rocks it was like looking down on the world from a plane in the sky.
It all created such a strong impression on me and I have always had a dream that I was perfectly capable of build a model train layout which would be very similar to the one that impressed me so much as a child.
I have put off doing it so far because I know how much work that will be building a layout of roads trains bridges and mountains like the miniature world of trains and people and mountains I saw that day.
We all have childhood dreams that we hope to achieve and I believe the time has come to put all my thoughts down into a real project and build the layout and I know this is a long term project and patience is important but it is an exciting moment for me.
I have never done anything like this before so it will be a challenge but since I have time on my hands I can learn and develop new skills with the help of model train layout guides I have purchased and when I retire I will have even more time to work on this project.
My childhood memories of that model train exhibition was quite profound and it has stuck with me all these years and I know I am ready to devote my spare time to recreating a model train layout I can be proud of.
